"With a face that resembled her son's, timeless, ageless, and full of inner strength, the beautiful woman smiled with dignity. Her gaze was fulfillment, her greeting a homecoming. Silently, I stretched my hands out to her"
- Demian, Hermann Hesse

JHope's solo song came before his part in the Boy Meets Evil trailer for the album Wings. It is evident that JHope and Jimin's music videos are linked because of the location and color choices for the videos. JHope is seen alone in a padded cell, which used to be a way (and for a lot of places still is) to lock up those with mental health problems. Heis alone in the cell and once the music starts, pills start to flow out of the two openings from the wall. This are placebo pills. Why is he taking placebo pills? He's been diagnosed with Munchhausen's syndrome.
Munchhausen syndrome is a mental disorder that causes an individual to think that they are hurt when they're not. They believe that they are so ill with other diseases that they are eventually found to be mentally ill. Symptoms include but are not limited to: Dramatic and inconsistent medical history, eagerness of having surgeries or tests done, and problems with identity or self-esteem.
He caused problems for someone else; his mom. This is the entirety of the song of him realizing all that he caused his mom to do and all the struggles they went to. This was his letter or poem to his mom that now she can rely on him because he got better. The lyrics go, "You can believe in your son now, you can smile" prove that he is working to get better from this mental illness. Yet, this is another symptom for this disease so it might be a temporary phase.
In later videos, more specifically the Love Yourself era, there is a clip of JHope getting abandoned by his mom. Throughout the story line of these videos he is also seen eating a candy bar. This is partly because Snicker's has a sponsorship with BTS and partly to relate back to the novel that heavily influences all the videos.
Sinclair gets chocolate from his mom when she sensed something was wrong but he didn’t tell her. The last time JHope ever saw his mom, she left him some chocolate so that she wouldn't feel as bad leaving her child because she knew something was wrong with him but because she had tried so hard and long to deal with JHope and his mental issues, she abandoned him. This is common in countries that are conservative about mental health issues, like South Korea. They truly break barriers with this song and music video theme because the suicide rate in South Korea is the highest in the world due to stress and societal pressures.
When JHope walks out of the room it symbolizes him leaving into heaven or at least leaving purgatory. The last thing we see is the painting Jimin sees turn into a painting with a child being held by its mother. This is a significant symbol because in the novel the mother of Sinclair was important to him and it shows that JHope's mother is to him too.
Love does not end at death.
